Simisola Bolatito Kosoko is a popular Nigerian female singer and songwriter. She is popularly known as Simi. According to the available information, she began her career as a gospel singer, when she dropped her debut studio album in 2008, titled Ogaju. Simi played as one of the top judges in season 7 of the Nigerian Idol TV show in 2022. 


Simi is one of the most talented female music artists in Nigeria over the years and currently, she has dropped several music projects since she began her career over a decade ago.

Simisola Bolatito is a popular Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress who was born on April 19, 1988. Simi is the last of four children to Oladele Ogunleye in Ojuelegba.


In an interview with Vanguard newspaper, Simi said her parents divorced when she was nine years old.


Simi grew up singing in her church choir, and she wrote her first song when she was ten years old.



According to the available information, Simi attended Stars International College, a popular secondary school in Ikorodu, Lagos State, before she proceeded to Covenant University, where Simi majored in mass media.



Simi dropped her first music album, Ogaju, in 2008 this was the beginning of her professional music career. The album featured songs like “Iya Temi” and “Ara Ile.”


Simi hired Samklef to produce the entire music album.


Simi dropped one five-track EP called Restless. In January 2014, she was signed to the X3M Music recording label. Immediately after the deal, she started making waves in the Nigerian music industry. 


Simi dropped two hit singles, “Tiff” and “E No Go Funny,” on January 9, 2014. Both songs were well-received by the Nigerian public, resulting in widespread airplay and together with several positive reviews from reviewers.


“Tiff” music video was directed by Josh Clarke and it was released on August 30, 2015. The song was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies in 2015.


At the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, she was named Most Promising Act to Watch.


She was named one of the fast-rising artists to watch out for in 2016 by Not Just OK, a popular entertainment blog in Nigeria immediately after she dropped her hit tune “Jamb Question”.


Simi was nominated for Best Breakthrough Act at the MTV Africa Music Awards in October 2016. Simi later worked together with Falz to release the extended play Chemistry, which turned out to be a fantastic performance and success.


Simi was also nominated in three categories at The Headies 2016 later that year, in December 2016, she won one, rounding off an excellent year for Simi and her career.


Over the years, Simisola received several endorsement deals from popular Nigerian organizations like telecommunications company Etisalat in early 2017.


In 2017, Simi dropped “Smile for Me” and “Joromi,” in anticipation of her 12-track second studio album titled Simisola. Clarence Peters and Aje Films directed music videos for the two hit songs.

A few weeks later the music videos for “O Wa Nbe,” “Complete Me,” “Gone for Good,” and “Aimasiko” were released.


Simi received another endorsement from Opera Mini, a popular browser in Nigeria, after being designated their brand ambassador. 


Simi dropped her third studio album, Omo Charlie Champagne, Vol. 1 on her birthday, April 19, 2019.


Omo Charlie Champagne has a slightly different feel than Simisola’s usual Afro-centric type of music.


Patoranking, Maleek Berry, Falz, and Adekunle Gold were featured in the 13-track album.


Simi dropped an album that she dedicated to her late father, Charles Oladele Ogunleye, who passed away in 2014. Omo Charlie Champagne, Vol. 1 was followed by three singles: “I Dun Care”, “Lovin”, and “Ayo”.


Simi left X3M Music in May 2019 after her 5-year recording deal with the label expired before she announced her record label. At the moment, Simi owns her record label, Studio Brat.

Simi and Adekunle Gold got married in a private wedding ceremony on January 9, 2019. According to her, they have been dating for five years. On the 30th of May 2020, Simi and her husband Adekunle Gold welcomed their daughter Adejare.
